You are probably unaware of how much Chiropractic care can help you and your family. So let’s explore what chiropractic care is all about. A chiropractor is a healthcare professional that specializes in the spine and central nervous system. Because of the emphasis of the spine in chiropractic care most patients think Chiropractors can only help with back pain, neck pain and headaches. But there is so much more to chiropractic care. Chiropractic care is really about total health and well being!

The Spine’s Role
The spine’s role is to protect the spinal cord which is part of the central nervous system.
The spine is like a set of armor made up of segments, so that spine can bend and move naturally with the body. A spinal segment consists of two vertebrae and the joints that connect them. There is a disc between each vertebrae that acts like a cushion. Underneath that armor of the spine there is a whole lot of communication happening. Messages traveling from all around the body up the spinal cord and into the brain. The brain processes these messages and sends replies back down to the spinal cord to tell the body how to respond. The central nervous system is one big information highway and it carries virtual messages to every part of the body.
Normal Wear and Tears Of Daily Life
Sometimes the wear and tear of everyday life can impact the spine and cause these segments to move in a way that is different from “normal.” This can happen gradually, with bad posture, or suddenly, from sports injuries. Because of the close relationship between the spine and the nervous system, everyday strains can still impact the information and communication between the brain and the body. Resulting in messages not being delivered to the brain or altering the messages making them inaccurate. When this miscommunication occurs, due to abnormal movement in the spine. Chiropractors refer to this as a vertebral subluxation or a chiropractic subluxation. You may have heard Dr. Bob use this term during your appointment, now you will know what he is referring to.
What’s That Popping Sound?
By making fast and gentle adjustments to the spine, either through the use of the Ultralign instrument or manual adjustments, Dr. Bob is restoring its natural movement.
If the central nervous system is like the engine of your body, a chiropractor acts like a mechanic. Tuning the spine and the central nervous system so your body can operate like a race car. As you are adjusted you may hear a popping sound that can seem a bit strange. This is in fact completely normal and harmless. What you are hearing is a release of gas between your spinal segments.
